If it is adventure and exploration you are looking for, our answer then this Island is for you.  Located 1,000 km from the mainland of Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands consists of 13 major islands, of which only five are inhabited. Explore the Islands’ volcanic geology and marvel at the rich diversity of both flora and fauna found throughout the islands.

The Galapagos Islands are blessed with pleasant weather year-round, so the perfect time to go is whenever you are free to go.  Scientists are still stumped by the large amount of diversity there is among species in this remote location.  The Charles Darwin Research Station is still exploring the islands and discovering new species daily.  You can learn about a multitude of different species at the Research Station, many that are native only to the Galapagos Islands.  They also feature a baby tortoise house and allow you to walk among the adult tortoises.

The snorkeling and diving opportunities around the islands are incredible, and you are sure to never run out of killer waves for surfing.  Take a tour of the lava tubes found near Puerto Ayora.  These underground tunnels were formed by the solidified outside skin of a molten lava flow.

For a more laid back approach, take a stroll down a beach or visit one of the few villages to take in not only the nature but the culture that the Galapagos Islands have to offer.  This destination is a must-see for those looking for a vacation that is out of the ordinary.
