Belize is easy to get to from US. There are direct flights from Dallas, Houston, Miami, and Charlotte.
Belize has 6 districts – each diverse from mountains, rain forests, cultural spots, etc. There are lagoons, jungle streams, zip lining thru forest canopy, Mayan ruins, scuba, snorkel, kite surfing, windsurfing, fishing, hike, swim, bird watch, horseback riding, etc.
Belize has the most extensive cave system in Central America. It also has longest barrier reef in Western Hemisphere and the highest concentration of Mayan sites in Central America. It is the only English speaking country in Central America. Forty percent of the land is protected national park areas. Belize has seven protected marine reserves, 70 different types of coral – 500 species of fish and is home of famous blue hole – 1,000 feet in diameter and 412’ deep.
If you like to watch the jaguars they have one of the few jaguar sanctuaries in the world along with howling monkeys.
Belize is the heartland of the Mayan culture and has a thriving modern Mayan community. They have a population that lives as farmers and stewards of the land. It is very easy to rent a car and drive around. The best time to travel is Hi season- November thru May. They have tropical type rain – June thru October
