Our very own, Miss Andi Dosey, CTC won the shipboard Dancing with the Stars competition aboard Holland America’s MS Statendam.  Holland America Cruise Line guests have the opportunity to participate in a complimentary dance class based on dance routines from the ABC smash hit show, Dancing with the Stars.  Andi joined in the fun and went through the early elimination process to become a finalist.  Our star shined while taking the stage with the Holland American Line professional dancers and became the cruise champion.  Her win was determined by a combined point total from a panel of three judges and audience participation.

Andi and her mother enjoyed the Staatendam’s Alaska itinerary in a lovely Neptune Lounge Suite.  The suite offered a separate living area, dressing room, refrigerator and mini-bar, a jet tub, complimentary laundry service and use of the Neptune Lounge—all with a sweeping view from their private balcony.  The Neptune suites also offered complimentary sparkling wine and bottled water served in the Neptune Lounge upon embarkation, gorgeous corsages for the ladies for the first formal night, cold hors d’oeuvres served before dinner on request, binoculars and umbrellas for their use on the cruise, a cocktail party with the ship’s officers, priority boarding for tendered ports of call and more!

Besides winning the Dancing with the Stars competition, the highlight of Andi’s trip was sitting at the piano bar in Red Dog Saloon in Juneau.  At the Red Dog, the piano player shared ragtime songs in a high-energy sing-along.  The sawdust floor and costumed servers made for an authentic-feeling experience.  This saloon originated during the heyday of Juneau’s glorious mining era.

In Ketchikan, Andi strolled along the entirety of Creek Street, the former “red light district” of the gold rush era.  Here, she enjoyed art galleries, folk art and boutique stores.

She enjoyed the special activities for the Holland America Mariner Society and the special exclusive activities and luncheons for Holland America’s suite guests.  The food was “spectacular” and the service, ambiance and camaraderie created special memories.  When asked about her strategy for table talk while sharing a table with people she doesn’t know, Andi replied “to get the conversation started, I ask my table-mates about their day’s itinerary, their favorite new discoveries and about their lives.  The conversation just flows after that.”

This was Andi’s third Alaska cruise and her mother’s fourth.
